Questions & answers
What is myQR?
Chatroom is a members-only chat site for adults in New Zealand: dozens of chat rooms, a contact list that shows who's online, and private messages — styled like the desktop messengers of the early 2000s.
How much does it cost?
$14.99, once. There's no subscription, nothing renews, and every member gets every feature.
Why do you only take crypto?
Many card processors won't work with sites that offer adult chat, and the ones that do charge high fees. Crypto keeps entry at $14.99, and there's no stored card that could be charged again. You can pay with Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Solana, USDT and more — Litecoin or USDT on Tron have the lowest fees for small payments.
How long until my account opens?
Your account stays pending until the payment is confirmed on the blockchain — usually a few minutes for Litecoin, Tron or Solana, and up to an hour for Bitcoin. The join page checks for you; you can close it and log in later.
Is there a free trial?
No. The one-off entry fee is what keeps most bots and scammers out. You can look through the list of rooms and read the blog before you join.
Who can join?
Adults 18 and over. The rooms are New Zealand–themed (there are rooms for each part of the country), but anyone 18+ who follows the rules is welcome.
What are R18 channels?
Optional rooms for adult conversation. They're switched off for every member by default and don't appear at all until you switch R18 on yourself. You can switch them off again any time.
Can people send me photos?
Only if you let them. Photos work in private messages between contacts who have both switched R18 on, and only after the receiver clicks "Allow photos" for that person. They arrive hidden until opened, can be unsent, and delete themselves after 7 days.
Can I chat with a group of people?
Yes. Start a group chat with any of your contacts — up to 20 people. Invitations have to be accepted, newcomers only see messages from after they join, and anyone can leave at any time. There are rooms for bigger crowds.
Can I use my own photo and name?
Yes. Pick a display name (you can change it any time), change your username once every 30 days, and either choose one of our illustrations or upload your own profile photo. Photos are only visible to signed-in members and are checked by a moderator first.
Who can see my details?
Other members see your username, display picture and the short "about me" card you choose to fill in. Your email and date of birth are never shown — only your age. Only contacts you've accepted can see whether you're online, and you can appear offline at any time. Nothing inside the members' area is shown to search engines.
How do I report someone or get something removed?
Click any name, message or photo and choose Report. Anyone — member or not — can also use our complaints page. Non-consensual images, anyone who may be under 18 and illegal content are dealt with within 48 hours.
Is there an app?
myQR runs in your phone's browser — no app store needed. Add it to your home screen for an app-like icon.
Can I delete my account?
Yes, any time, from Options. It removes your profile, contacts, photos and the messages you've sent.
Can I get a refund?
The entry fee is non-refundable except where New Zealand law, including the Consumer Guarantees Act, gives you a right to one. Contact us through the complaints page about any payment problem.
